Dual Credit
Starting early is one of the best ways a student can set themselves up for success in college. Dual enrollment offers a student the chance to save time and money by earning both high school and college credit simultaneously. It allows them to explore engaging college courses while continuing their high school education. These credits not only apply toward graduation at UAA but may also transfer to other universities.
The School of Education at UAA is proud to partner with high schools across the State of Alaska, empowering students to take advantage of this opportunity. This page provides information for both the student and the hosting school on the dual enrollment process.
For the Student
For the School
Before registering for classes, students under the age of 18 and their parent/guardian must submit a Secondary Student Parent/Guardian Authorization form. Once completed, this form is sent directly to the Office of the Registrar. Once processed (1 business day), the student is able to register.
If the student plans to enroll in a class with a field placement component, a background check will also be required. Since this process can take time, it is important to begin it as soon as the student is enrolled. Detailed information about this process can be found in the Dual Credit Guidebook.
